Former Chief Justice John H. Cayce, Jr. joins Kelly Hart & Hallman
Fort Worth, Texas (January 25, 2010) – Kelly Hart & Hallman is pleased to announce that John H. Cayce, Jr., former Chief Justice of Texas’ Second Court of Appeals, has joined the firm as a partner in the Appellate practice group. Cayce joins former justice David Keltner in leading Kelly Hart’s appellate practice group.

Cayce, a native of Fort Worth, received his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1982, where he served as Editor in Chief of the law review. After graduating law school, Cayce worked at the Texas Supreme Court as briefing attorney. Before his election to the Court, Cayce was a prominent appellate lawyer in Fort Worth.
During his fifteen years on the Court, Cayce authored nearly two thousand legal opinions and held various leadership positions within the judiciary. In 2000 and 2005, Cayce was appointed by Governors Bush and Perry to serve as a Justice of the Texas Supreme Court for the purpose of deciding two significant cases. Cayce was the longest serving Chief Justice in the state when he stepped down at the end of last year.
