R. Daniel Settle, Jr.

Biography

R. Daniel Settle, Jr. joined Kelly Hart & Hallman at its founding in 1979 and is a partner in the firm, a member of its Executive Committee, and head of the Banking and Finance and Real Estate practice groups. Mr. Settle obtained his bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina in 1969 and his juris doctor, with honors, from the University of Texas School of Law in 1972, where he also was Order of the Coif. He has more than 35 years of experience in public finance, representing cities, counties, special districts, nonprofit corporations, investment bankers and other financial institutions in connection with structuring financings for a variety of projects, including public infrastructure, economic development, affordable housing and health care.

Mr. Settle is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel. His civic involvement includes membership on the boards of Downtown Fort Worth, Inc.; the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth; and Partners Together for Health, a foundation that supports JPS Health Network. Dan is the grandson of a lawyer, the son of a lawyer, and the father of a lawyer. He and his wife, Gail, have three sons, Danny, Chris, and Michael. Dan enjoys doing anything with Gail and the boys, but if none of them is available, golf will do. His favorite course is The Golf Club, New Albany, Ohio. Fearless behind the wheel, Mr. Settle holds the unofficial land speed record for the distance between 201 Main Street and the offices of the City of Fort Worth.

  • Substantially involved in development, financing and the structuring of economic development programs for the Texas Motor Speedway; the Federal Express cargo package sorting and distribution facility at Fort Worth's Alliance Airport; a 200,000 square foot retail and museum facility for the City of Fort Worth and Cabela's; the relocation of Radio Shack's headquarters; and the revitalization and development efforts in downtown Fort Worth, including its Convention Center and Convention Center Hotel; the merger and consolidation of two children's hospitals and the tax-exempt financing associated therewith; the structuring of financing for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport; and the financing for various institutions of higher education , including Texas Christian University and Texas Wesleyan University
  • Substantially involved in financings for the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County Texas, Tarrant County Hospital District. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and the Fort Worth Independent School District
  • Represented private clients in connection with a variety of infrastructure privatization and project development negotiations with local governments
