Don C. Plattsmier

Biography

Don C. Plattsmier practices Of Counsel in the firm’s Energy practice group, with a primary emphasis in representing individuals, corporations, and other business entities in oil and gas and energy exploration and development projects; mergers, asset acquisitions and divestitures (including auctions, negotiated sales, and property exchanges). He has experience with the structuring, documentation, and negotiation of oil and gas transactions, farm-ins, and acquisitions, as well as operating agreements, production handling, transportation, and sales contracts. In addition to his energy-related practice, Mr. Plattsmier has assisted his clients’ business requirements in a broad range of areas, including endorsement contracts and product placement agreements. Mr. Plattsmier received his bachelor of arts from the University of New Mexico in 1965 and his juris doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 1968. Before commencing practice of law in 1970, he served two years in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Plattsmier has served on several charitable boards and has been a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the City of Fort Worth. He spent several years as a youth soccer and basketball coach and served as leader of a Boy Scout Explorer post. Mr. Plattsmier also has taught as an adjunct professor of oil and gas law at Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

Don and his wife, Nancy, have three children, David, Amy, and Amanda. He enjoys golf, music, reading histories and spy novels, and adoring his three grandchildren, Shiloh, Tallulah and Theodore.
